Burnley Football Club are a professional Football League club based in Burnley, Lancashire. The club was formed in 1882 and was one of the original twelve founding members of the Football League in 1888. Burnley can boast a rich history of club football, having won every major domestic honour since then, except for the League Cup.

Turf Moor has been home for Burnley since 1883, and despite having several upgrades and developments since then, it has always remained home for Burnley fans young and old. Turf Moor is one of the longest continuously used stadiums in English professional football, along with Preston North End.

Burnley are also known as the Clarets, due to the vibrant colour of their home shirt. They changed their club colours from green to claret and blue in 1910, in tribute to the dominant football team at the time, Aston Villa, hoping to lift and inspire Burnley too.

The Clarets have a loyal army of fans who have supported the club throughout the highs and the lows of their history, meaning any trip to Turf Moor is often a loud and intimidating experience for most away teams. No team looks forward to an away day at Burnley!

Burnley have been Football League Champions twice, in 1920–21 and 1959–60, and have won the FA Cup once, in 1914. They also reached the 1961 quarter-finals of the European Cup, now more commonly known as The Champions League.

They are one of a few teams to have won all top four professional divisions of the English football league, along with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Preston North End.

There are no Premier League derby days for Burnley to look forward to, however they do have a fierce rivalry with Championship side Blackburn Rovers, who are located only 13 miles away and are also founding members of the Football League!

Getting to Turf Moor is easy by train, with two train stations within a short walking distance of the ground at Burnley Central and Burnley Manchester Road.
