Liverpool FC are an English professional football club in the Premier League. The club was initially founded in 1892 as Everton Athletic, but were soon renamed Liverpool FC due to Everton FC's copyright laws and joined the inaugural Football League a year later as Liverpool Football Club.

When the club was formed in 1892, the team played in a blue and white pattern but this was soon changed to the iconic red shirt of today.

Liverpool's main rivals are primarily Everton and Manchester United. The city rivalry with Everton is considered a friendly derby with many supporters of each club being made up of family and friends. However, the Liverpool and Man Utd rivalry is known as a more fiercely contested fixture than the Merseyside Derby, as the two giants of English football battle it out together.

Since the formation of the Premier League in 1992, Liverpool have struggled to challenge consistently for the league title. They came close to winning three times but fell short in 2002, 2014 and 2019. But in 2020, led by German coach Jürgen Klopp, they finally claimed the Premier League title and would have won more, if not for the dominance of Manchester City.

Anfield is an incredible football stadium and here you will find one of the most famous stands in the world, the Spion Kop, also known as the Kop End. There are not many more memorable matchday experiences in world football.

With a stadium capacity of 53,394, Liverpool have opted to rebuild the Anfield Road End and Anfield will have an expanded capacity of 61,015.

The nearest train station from the stadium is Kirkdale Station, which is about one mile away. Otherwise, there is also Lime Street Station which is two miles away from Anfield.
