Manchester City FC are an English professional football club based in Manchester. They are one of the most successful sides in recent English football history, having won seven Premier League titles, three FA Cups, six League Cups and one Champions League since 2010.

Man City were co-founders of the Premier League when it was launched in 1992, but after a series of underwhelming campaigns they found themselves falling all the way down to the third tier of the English football league.

The club’s fortunes began to turn around after a takeover by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, through the Abu Dhabi United Group in August 2008. This saw a significant and much needed financial investment into the club, leading to a new era of unprecedented success.

With Roberto Mancini in charge, City were able to win their first major trophy in 35 years, winning the 2011 FA Cup. The following year, they won their first Premier League title in dramatic fashion, with an injury time winner from Sergio Aguero clinching the title, and denying local rivals Man Utd at the same time. This moment has gone down as one of the greatest moments in Premier League history.

Under the management of Pep Guardiola, Man City became the first team in Premier League history to get 100 points in a single campaign, before completing an unprecedented sweep of domestic titles in 2019 and becoming the first English men's team to win the domestic treble.

Then in 2023, the club won their first UEFA Champions League, while also winning the Premier League and FA Cup in the same season, completing a rare continental treble

The City of Manchester Stadium, otherwise known as Etihad Stadium, is the home of Manchester City. The Etihad Stadium has a impressive bowl design and is totally enclosed. With an extended capacity of over 55,000, it is the fifth-largest stadium in the Premier League.

The Etihad has its own stop on the Metrolink, on the East Manchester line, called Etihad Campus, and is just a short five minute walk from the ground. Trams can be caught from either Victoria or Piccadilly railway stations (or Market Street or Piccadilly Gardens in the city centre). The closest train station is Ashburys, which is a five minute train ride from Manchester Piccadilly Station, and a short 15 minute walk from the Etihad.
