Stonehenge, Bath and Windsor group tour:
A wonderful small group tour, with a maximum of 16 passengers, combining three of the most iconic sights England has to offer in one day! Accompanied by an expert, knowledgeable guide, enjoy a visit to ancient and mysterious Stonehenge, the elegant and delightful Roman city of Bath and historic, majestic Windsor Castle. You will depart London and drive westwards, to the rolling chalk hills of Wessex, an ancient land where mysterious monuments and burial chambers are dotted across the landscape. Your guide will provide a commentary as you approach the most famous of these monuments, Stonehenge, located in an area rich in prehistoric remains. We arrive at Stonehenge just before opening (entry is included), giving you the chance to explore this ancient stone circle before the crowds arrive. Your guide will be on hand to highlight what we know about the site, and what is still open to debate as you walk around the site. Onwards to Bath, a city that owes its existence to visitors from afar, due to the presence of the only hot springs in the country. Down in the valley of the tranquil River Avon, are the natural hot springs that have attracted both Celtic settlers and Roman invaders from centuries ago. The city reinvented itself in the 18th Century, as a place to see and be seen, with wealthy Georgians taking the waters for medicinal purposes. You will get to visit the Roman Baths (entry is included) and see the remains of the Roman streets and temple, as well as enjoy a guided tour of the elegant squares and crescents of the 250 year old Georgian city. From Bath, we travel through the limestone hills of Somerset and then back east towards Windsor, home to the oldest and largest continuously occupied castle in the world. Once a major fortress built by William the Conqueror to protect London, its position on the River Thames and the hunting forest nearby made it a popular location for many of England's monarchs - as it still is today. Enjoy a visit to the State Rooms, see the tombs of Kings and Queens buried in St George's Chapel, soak up the Royal Collection of art and marvel at Queen Mary's exquisite Dolls House. Please note that entry to Windsor Castle is not included. For those who do not wish to enter the castle, you can spend some time exploring the narrow cobbled streets and riverside parks of this majestic town.On your journey back to London, we will follow the Thames past Runnymede where King John put his seal on Magna Carta in 1215, England's famous constitution, an appropriate and historic end to your small group tour. After the tour, you will be dropped off at Victoria Station in Central London, which has great transport links across London and beyond.
