Manchester United FC are a professional football club based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester. Commonly known as the Red Devils, or simply as United, they were originally founded in 1878 as Newton Heath LYR Football Club but changed their name to Manchester United in 1902.

By 1907, United had been promoted to the First Division and the following season they were league champions. Since then they have won a record 20 league titles, 12 FA Cups, 6 League Cups and a record 21 FA Community Shields.

Their European achievements are pretty impressive too, with 3 European Cup/Champions Leagues to their name, plus a Europa League, Cup Winners' Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. Manchester United, along with Liverpool, are by far and away the two most successful clubs in English football history.

In 1968, 10 years after eight of the club's players were killed in the tragic Munich air disaster, Man United became the first English club to win the European Cup.

The legendary Sir Alex Ferguson is the club's longest-serving and most successful manager. During his time at the club, he won 38 trophies and Man United were the first team to claim the continental treble of the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League. However, this achievement is now shared with local rivals, Manchester City, after they also succeeded with their treble in 2023.

Man United are one of highest-earning football clubs in the world, with a fan base that stretches all over the world. The club has proven to be adept at brand marketing and are known for their commercial income coming from their many global partnerships with famous brands.

Their home ground, Old Trafford, is one of the most famous stadiums in the world. The stadium is also known as the Theatre of Dreams, with many infamous nights to be remembered over the years. With a capacity of 75,000, it’s the second largest football ground in the UK, behind the equally legendary Wembley Stadium.

The easiest way to get to Old Trafford is by Metrolink, from Manchester Piccadilly station, which is moments away from the ground. Fans can also travel to Manchester Piccadilly Station, however this requires a three mile walk to get to Old Trafford.

Manchester United are one of the most widely supported and successful football clubs in the world, and as you would expect they share some major rivalries with several English clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Leeds United.

If you’re lucky enough to watch one of these matches, you’re more than likely in for a feisty affair!

Thames Dinner Cruise For Two My partner and I went of this cruise and all I can say is BRILLIANT!

The staff on board were really helpful and the food during the cruise was brilliant.

I'm hoping to go again soon with some of my friends and make a day of it in London.

THANKS Sarah
